I had a suite yesterday that cost 8k had all the signs of an Aniline but when through the microscope you couldn't see any hair follicles. It looked like a pull up under it there was also a slight nap.

Open picture in paint. Scale it down 10-20% then resave.

Could have been a buffed Aniline then. Could you see fibres rather than hair follicles.
What do your other tests show?

Sounds like a buffed leather (Aniline or Partial Nubuck)
There are quite a lot of buffed Aniline's around (DFS, Laura Ashley etc)

Photo would be great if you can send me one.

    Cheers
    Judy
