Do plastic tanks retain the heat as good as the stainless steel ones ?

I have a plastic workshop non insulated tank ?

I've used both and the plastic ones do retain the heat more. Probably because metal gets colder a lot quicker than plastic.

Metal is a good conductor of heat, plastic is a good insulator. That’s why radiators are metal. A plastic tank will retain heat much better.

plastic will retain heat much longer, not just because it's plastic, but because the ones from plastic work shop have insulation too. the same celotex stuff you use in walls. touch a metal tank, and then an insulated plastic one and you'll see which one is losing the most heat.
