How to avoid colouring the stitching on leather?

Hi guys,

I have some boots which needed the colour putting back in them to cover scratches etc so I went over the whole boot with some brown restoration solution but it has also coloured the white stitching.

How do you get round this?

Hi Judy,

I used Sovereign shoe cream and it was a brown colour to match the boot. It was recommended by a shoe repair shop and told me to rub it all over the boot in circular motions and it will remove the scuffs and scratches. It's done an amazing job however it has also stained the stitching brown too!

I'm not too fussed now because they were not expensive boots but I would like to know for the future how to not stain the stitching that is all over the boots.
