Gym flooring easiest way to vacuum. Vacuuming is OK for daily task but want to find out if can deep clean flooring 6 monthly, best method to kill germs which are plentiful in such environments. Any suggestions very welcome.
Hi Jacob,
gym floor is part covered with reconstituted tyre rubber which is slightly uneven finish, bobbly almost but not really rough texture. The remaining flooring is flat smooth rubber mats that are very large, too large to move and have heavy equipment on. The issue I have is chalk marks as the gym is busy with weight lifters, I am simply using the wand head free or plastic end on hose to get stubborn chalk marks up. Can be very tiring, no pun intended.
https://www.worldofclean.co.uk/flat-mop.html and dampened https://www.worldofclean.co.uk/waffle-microfiber-floor-cloth.html would make short work of the chalk marks , especially if dampened with a light spray of STS. The articulation of the lower link of the mop makes it ideal for steering around equipment and since a variety of cloths and pads can be fitted to the Velcro-like head, it can also be used for other uses such as wall washing ( Telescopic handle!).
Many thanks John,
Am I correct in assuming a trigger spray application to the chalked floor for isolated areas before flat moping,? Obviously the gym is in use as I clean so minimal disruption is necessary, also is a light misting of soluclear once monthly adequate for continued germ control? Would you recommend soluclear to be applied just prior to closing for H&S reasons?
The STS can either be sprayed onto the chalk or onto the cloth, whichever seems to work best. It only takes a second to either turn the cloth to present a fresh surface or to fit a different cloth. the first can then be rinsed and wrung out for further use. So with two cloths you can cover a very large area.
The Digrain is probably best applied just before you leave, not just for H & S reasons but to avoid too much foot traffic spoiling an even coverage.
