Is leather dying?

I notice posts regarding leather are becoming fewer.

Is this because of winter in the U.K.?

Or is there another reason?

"Down Under", I have also noticed a drop in customer enquiries, but in my area, at this time of year, there can be a problem.

This is our "Wet Season", of, if you like, "Cyclone Season".

Lots of rain from December to end of April, with humidity in the 90's.

Dues to mould concerns, I inform my clients about mould possibilities in both leather & cotton.

Usually, three days after heavy rain, the rH has dropped to an acceptable % & I will then do the work.

Most of my clients are understanding.

But I have also noticed since this covid thing, many are saving money & not spending like they used to.

Maintenance & cleaning seems to be getting pushed aside "until later".

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks, stay safe & take care,

Shortwun. :2beer: :wheelchair::goodday:

Hi Shorty

Busy as ever from my perspective.
have remained extremely busy with orders all the way through the pandemic so can only assume that technicians are still busy.

Lots more interest in recycling and restoration over here and our courses are filling fast this year.

Always good to hear from ‘down under’!
Stay safe

Hi Shorty

As with Judy. Last week I was assisting Daniel in the family business and, like most technicians I am in contact with, he reports that with the advent of Covid, demand for cleaning services is greater than ever.

When I was the principal, I didn't clean leather (it doesn't float my boat) but Daniel reports that even without advertising leather cleaning, demand is growing. OK, we don't have the weather issues that you encounter so maybe this is a factor for you? Would you know how the marketplace is in Western Australia where the weather seasons and extremes are quite different to your?

Safe and happy cleaning

Google trends always tells the story, since last November the whole cleaning sector has been struggling for work, you can see by how many people are searching for services -

Leather

Carpets

Upholstery

If you look at earlier figures, the pandemic has hit the cleaning industry pretty hard, people over the last 2 yrs just don't want us in their houses like they used to, it's not hard to work out

It will get better with restrictions now lifting again

Never been busier! I don't find any issues with me being in anybody's house. I also find that people are trying to restore what they already have rather than buying new, which makes a lot of sense with the hot topic being upcycle or recycle.
