Is this excess polish?

Hi guys,

I'm from Dublin and trying to strip and polish a marmoleum floor in a primary school.

I'll attach a photo to this post and perhaps somebody can tell me if the large patch is just excess polish/wax.

This part of the floor is too small for the machine so I scrubbed it by hand with with the doodlebug and a kitchen sponge, which had zero effect.

I'm not experienced with floorcare so if somebody could give their two cents on whether the patches in question are just excess polish I can go back with a proper scraper.

The position of the door and therefore the Walkway to me..... suggests the top coat has worn away

I may be wrong though

Marmoleum is the same colour right the way through so not wear. Looks more like damage than excess polish, what chemical, if any, have you used on it , as this flooring is sensitive to high alkaline cleaners
