Looking To Add Leather Side

Paul Moulding

Hello I am looking to add leather cleaning and restoration to my cc business.
I've looked at the price off the training in Harrogate but was wondering how much it would be to start for example kit and equipment you would need and what the demand is.
Thanks

Hi
We offer a Tech Tool Kit which includes the 3 day course and all the tools and prodcts you need to get going in your business.

The cost of the kit is £1500 + vat but is the most cost effective way of training and setting up as the value of the kit means the training comes free.
We can also split the cost if this helps.

You will make your money back very quickly - there is a lot of work out there!!

Hope this helps
Happy to have a chat if you need any further info.
Cheers

What kind of work is out there? What is the demand and how to advertise for this? What are the average rates per job?
Would love a chat as I am really interested in starting this sort of work.
Thank you

You are in a prime area position, Paul.
Take a walk round your local DFS, John Lewis, and all other furniture stores and see the amount of leather upholstery for sale, probably a good 50% these days against soft cover, now think about leather upholstery has been in vogue for the last 35 years. Most quality car manufacturers, as well as older classics are leather bolstered or full sets. Add to that the add ons such as bags, jackets, and every thing else made of leather then the world is your oyster.
How you market your business is up to you, but there is a mass of help out there, the same as pricing, but, leather work has a specialist price tag attached, unlike FB carpet cleaning.
Speak to Judy, a World Leader in Leather Knowledge, if she don't know, well its not worth knowing.
You can PM if you wish further insight of how I've moved to total Leather work in the last year.

Went to the garage today to have some work done on my car..

"leather repair, like scratches on bolsters and stuff"
"yeah that and recolouring"
"oh lemmie take a picture of your number"

2 hours later, and 4 phone calls, 2 being garages who have had mechanics scuff premium car seats getting in and out... and one a biker who bought some really comfy leathers that have faded...the other wants to know if i can recolour a pair of 20 eyelet dc martens..

Absolutely loads out there..

Don't forget luxury boats & private aeroplanes.

Although I don't know your demographics, if you have up market hotels or resorts, they also may have leather.

Judy Bass, I'm going to start another post to ask you some questions. :afraid:

Yours in leather. :worthy:

Easiest way to find out if there is leather work where you do your business is to check out your customers house for leather furniture while you do your job there on carpets and upholstery. Simple chat with your customer can open up interesting conversation. I'm building list of customers that are 100% interested in doing leather repairs on their leather suites like ones Judy Bass trains technicians in.Over past 6 months I have built list of more than 10 customers waiting on their leather suite repairs. They have had their suite for more than 10 years, so another year waiting wont change much. They know now that I will be trained in spring 2018 and I will be trained leather repair technician. List with potential customers will pay for course in no time.
I think another game changer would be to learn hand stitching leather where cushion of leather that is gone flat over time could be cut open and refilled, then restitched as original. Certainly job that can be done mobile and adds value to service.
