Cleanguard© is a stable aqueous solution used to treat surfaces and other fabrics/materials in order to provide a durable microbiostatic finish. This includes natural and man made fibres, metals, leather, wood, rubber, plastic and Formica.

The product bonds with the surface like placing pieces of “Lego” on top of each other; - this establishes a layer of copolymer covering the entire surface. You cannot see it or feel it, it does not discolour or in any way change the appearance of the material, fabric or carpet.

This bond is very strong and can only be removed by “abrasive” action.

Cleanguard is a highly advanced Multi-Active cleaner which has been approved and tested to BS EN 1276 and BS EN 13704 by an independent laboratory.

INTRODUCTORY PRICE OF £46.06 +VAT (+DELIVERY)

This product is currently en route to us we are taking advance orders now, it can be used in all aspects of fire and flood cleaning.

Nick, Don't want to sound thick but could you give some instances where a carpet & upholstery cleaner would use this cleaner.

I can see how I would stick it in a bottle and clean my kitchen work surfaces with it, but how would I use it in the bread & butter of my business which is clean carpets & soft furnishing.

Mike, if the product (any product) doesnt fit the bill for your business, it doesnt mean it is of no use to others.
A current thread on here is about a guy embarking on flood and fire trainng.
Carpet cleaning is only one third of my business - general cleaning is the other two thirds (albeit we use the clients consumable fluids).
And there must be others members too who are multi tasking.
and dont you think the likes of Martin_606 on the other channel would be interested as he does some grotty EOT cleans. Im sure he would and I will be emailing him to let him know.
Sounded interesting to me (but maybe not for me for the reason stateds above).

Joe I never said it would be of no use, I was expecting Nick to say something like you can clean urine soaked chairs with it, or clean chairs in hospital to inhibit the spread of MSRS(sp) or Nora Virus, just some example of its use

is it a rinse agent or just a pre-spray?

Agree Mike, i'd ask-

£46.06 +VAT, for how many litres at what dilution?

What does it protect against? Mrsa? +how long does that protection last and has it got documents of testing against specific viruses that you can use to sell it ?

Is this a microsplitter type agent with added qualities?

What ph, for use on wool etc?

I'll think of some more

Hopefully this will help answer some of the questions asked,

To answer Mikes question regarding the likes of nursing homes,

dilution would be 1:20 initially on very heavily contaminated fabric, then use the prodcut to rinse at 1:40, and if required post treat lightly and leave to dry, the product is slightly acidic at 4.5-5 ph MRSA, Cdif, Nora and considerably more are not an issue, all test documents are completed and will follow asap whatch this space.
FOUR-STEP ANTIMICROBIAL SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION

Solution Uk Ltd Cleanguard© Antimicrobial System incorporates Stayclean antimicrobial technology. It is a method of treating surfaces in order to eliminate microbial growth by adding a bound antimicrobial agent.

Stayclean’s technology destroys or inhibits the growth of microorganisms. The major classes of microorganisms are bacteria, fungi including mould, yeasts and algae.

Microorganisms lead to many problems such as unpleasant odours, ranging from stale to musty, through to putrid and foul. They also produce unsightly stains, discoloration and deterioration of many surfaces and materials with which they come into contact.

A more serious problem is the production of pathogenic microorganisms, germs which contribute to the spread of disease and infection.

Stayclean used to prevent such microbial infestation and contamination by inhibiting, killing or neutralising their effects of deterioration, defacement, odour and disease.

 CLEANGUARD © - Surface Preparation Cleaner

 STAYCLEAN© - Anti-microbial Protective Coating

 DEEPCLEAN© - Routine Daily Surface Cleaner

 CLEANMATE© MONITOR - Validation of Antimicrobial Protection

1. All surfaces to be treated will already have some form of “Biofilm” (bacteria) present along with other live microbes, example mould and fungus. These areas need to be cleaned and sanitized first with CLEANGUARD© and rinsed with clean water.

2. After the initial cleaning, the surface is free from ‘biofilm” and active microbes and ready for application of the Stayclean solution.

3. The surface is sprayed, wiped or fogged with the Stayclean solution and allowed to dry.

The surface does not have to be completely dry before application.

4. Coverage is verified with a proprietary CLEANMATE© MONITOR and special UV light source which confirms the presence of the anti-microbial solution.

Microbiam can be “spot” applied any time the original treatment shows signs of “wear” as evidenced by the CLEANMATE© MONITOR and UV light source.

However, daily use of CLEANGUARD© which incorporates Stayclean will continually protect areas suffering from wear while assuring continual and total product coverage and antimicrobial protection.

Hope this helps

Best regards Nick

Nick,

Can you send me some literature if you have some, it could be of interest to the private hospitals that we do.

Thanks

Hi Shaun

No entirley different, Microban is an unbound anti microbial, which can leach/migrate, and bacteria can become immune to it, it has been proven for instance that certain strains of Ecoli have become resistant to microban.

Cleanguard© remains effective and bacteria cannot build a resistants against it.
I will be posting more information and test data.

CLEANGUARD – A PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

CLEANGUARD is a professional strength cleaner-sanitizer incorporating a unique anti-microbial surface modifying technology, ‘Stayclean’ that permanently bonds to the surface or substrate.

Cleanguard offers a superior level of cleaning whilst delivering a broad spectrum kill and has been tested to BS EN 1276 and BS EN 13704.

The antimicrobial agent ‘Stayclean’ is a revolutionary alternative to conventional sanitizers, disinfectants, bleaches and conventional biocides. The unique anti-microbial technology provides the highest level of long-term protection that no other product can deliver.

The technology is described as a physical kill rather than by poisoning, surfaces treated with the antimicrobial can remain active for an extended period of time to challenge conventional anti-infective agents and combat worldwide emergent antimicrobial resistance.

The antimicrobial agent ‘Stayclean’ acts as microorganisms come into direct contact with it. Since the antimicrobial is not absorbed by organisms, it, in effect, transforms conventional surfaces and materials into active antimicrobial surfaces which will continue to kill viruses and infections caused by air-borne microbial contaminants.

Cleanguard as a finished formulated product can be used on almost any surface or material; it is safe to use, safe in storage, reduces Health & Safety risks and requires no hazardous warnings on the label. It is fully biodegradable and environmentally safe.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES

Cleanguard is unique; its technology is safe, its long-term residual antimicrobial effect restricts bacteria from re-colonising a surface.

Along with its exceptional cleaning and deodorising ability, some of the differences are in its chemical nature, effectiveness, durability and safety. This synergistic blend of technologies has a unique advantage over all previously known methods and applications: the antimicrobial component is bonded to the substrate surface. Microorganisms are then destroyed by simple contact with the surface.

Since it does not dissipate, it minimizes or eliminates the potential for microorganisms to adapt, build up tolerance, or become resistant. It acts by rupturing the cell membrane, not by poisoning. By contrast, most other antimicrobials, sanitizers and disinfectants are designed to diffuse and be absorbed. Once absorbed, they act by poisoning the microorganisms or causing fatal mutations. However, as they diffuse, they lose strength, and adaptation can and usually does occur. Unlike conventional biocides that are designed to volatilize and be absorbed by organisms, the antimicrobial chemically bonds to, and literally becomes part of, the application surface. Most surfaces remain antimicrobial for an extended period of time. Since the antimicrobial is not absorbed by organisms, but remains a part of each application surface, it, in effect, transforms conventional surfaces and materials into active antimicrobial surfaces. These surfaces will remain effective for extended periods, which will result in a significant reduction of many infections.

It is an exceptional cleaner; it offers the highest level of cleaning in any environment. Its ability to penetrate porous surfaces, including concrete enables it to tackle the most severe dirty environments like toilets, bodily fluids like blood and urine contamination are dealt with quickly and easily in a safe manner; even the most stubborn stains on non-slip safety flooring are no longer a problem.

Cleanguard can be used on almost any surface or material including carpets and soiled linen.

Provides a broad spectrum kill even when used in dirty conditions.

Unlimited applications for this brilliant technology.

It is the only one of its kind.

Another unique feature is treated areas can be confirmed with the use of a "monitor" fluid unique to the product. These areas show under UV light to provide proof of application. This technology is a technological breakthrough and is the first to offer a “real” on-site test that does not disrupt or deface the treated surface.

How will this product contribute to reducing hospital acquired infections?

Cleaning is always going to be the critical ingredient in maintaining a healthy building. When contaminants are removed or minimised through cleaning, human exposure and risks are reduced. Cleanguard is an exceptional cleaner, thereby lifting more soil into suspension ready for easy removal leaving surfaces hygienically clean. It has a broad spectrum kill offering unequalled safety from infection, not just from C.diff or MRSA but also mould, fungus and the defacement caused by mildew, particularly in bathrooms and around shower stalls.

The antimicrobial technology offers long-term, unprecedented protection from airborne bacteria and cross contamination. Organisms are killed whenever contact is made with treated surfaces or materials preventing bacteria from re-colonising a surface. The technology does not leach or migrate and is non-sensitising thereby allowing it to be used in sensitive areas and high dependency wards.

Microorganisms are unable to adapt, mutate or build resistance and therefore eliminating the development of drug resistant bacteria.

Why is this product more effective in reducing healthcare associated infection than other similar class of products?

Cleanguard possesses unique features using a synergistic blend of the most effective biocides available together with an antimicrobial technology that works by means of a physical kill. By contrast, all other antimicrobials, sanitizers and disinfectants are designed to diffuse and be absorbed. Once absorbed, they act by poisoning the micro-organisms or causing fatal mutations. However, as they diffuse, they lose strength and adaptation can and usually does occur.

Its cleaning and infection control are unparalleled thereby maintaining the highest standards in cleaning and hygiene management.

The antimicrobial agent does not dissipate, migrate or volatilize thereby maintains it working strength preventing microbial resistance. Cleanguard is the only cleaner/sanitizer to incorporate this technology.

What is the mechanism of action?

For the most part, there are concentrated areas on the cell surface that are highly anionic (negatively charged), Cleanguard is positively charged and so is attracted to the cell wall or membrane. This ionic interaction is sufficient to pull a long hydrocarbon chain (C18) of the molecule through the cell wall or membrane. Cell lysis ensues. (Disruption of the cell wall, membrane resulting in cell death). This property makes the technology unique since the molecule does not lend itself to microbial adaptation (ability of microbes to develop drug or antimicrobial resistance). Rational for this is lack of target specificity on the cell wall.

The above description refers to the microbiocidal action arising from the presence of a quaternary ammonium cationic function; intrinsic to the unique properties of this product is the binding capacity conferred on the active molecule through the trimethoxylsilyl moiety. This latter function enters into reaction with any hydroxylic or other nucleophilic entity on the substrate surface whereby the molecule becomes covalently bound to that surface.

Hi Nick,

received some Cleanguard today and will be using it at a surgery on hard surfaces. I will be decanting the solution into 500ml sprayers. My maths is not fantastic but am thinking roughly 12.5ml concentrate to 500ml water at 40 to 1 ratio. Any maths geniuses.

Hi Nick,
it all sounds fantastic. I would be interested in trying that product. As it is something new, I would like to be sure of its proprieties before placing my order- is there a chance to get the test data?
Could you also tell us how long does the protective finish last?
Many thanks
Robert

Hi Robert,

With the latest independent test data on hard surfaces, Cleanguard has a 100% kill rate of 180 days! Continued testing will more than likely prove indefinite protection. Once dry it protects the surface with an inert ‘physical’ non-leeching barrier to bacteria.

However, cleaning and agitation can remove the coating, but as long as the surface is re-cleaned with Cleanguard, then protection is restored. It can also be tagged post cleaning with a UV marker to confirm treatment. In the future a UV marker chemical will be added to solution, so that areas of wear or improper application can be highlighted.

We feel that this also has an application for textiles, because you will be able to tell the customer during your annual visits that their carpet or suite needs re-treatment with Cleanguard.

At some point in the near future the technology will also be added to soil and stain repellent treatments. This again will highlight improper application or the need to re-treat areas.

Testing on its efficacy on fabrics and carpeting is ongoing, but it has enormous potential for the fire and flood restoration markets as well as general textile care.

Regards

Steve
