The Dangers of Electric Cigarettes

Recently, I encountered a crazy situation that highlighted the risks with these electric cigarette lighters. Just a few days ago, while I was cleaning a customer's sofa, I suddenly detected what seemed like smoke or steam coming from the side of the armrest. Initially, I thought it might be leaking water—possibly from a pipe. However, as I inspected more closely, panic set in when I discovered that the source of the smoke was actually an electric cigarette lighter wedged between the sofa's arm and cushions.
To make matters worse, I noticed that the metal of the lighter was glowing redhot. I quickly tried to remove the electric cigarette lighter but found my hands—and those of my colleagues—too large for the narrow space between the cushions. In our panic, we rushed around the kitchen searching for tools to help us get it out. Eventually, we found a wooden spoon that surprisingly slipped down into the side of the sofa.
After fiddling around for what seemed an eternity were just couldn't retrieve the lighter. We were panicking at this stage; as time stretched on. After much effort and growing anxiety over an impending fire, we finally managed to snag hold of it and extract it.
When i picked up that lighter , even with my gloves on it was incredibly hot—I instinctively tossed it into the sink right: upon the hitting cold water in a basin in the customers home, which can only be described as a firework going off. it . Relief washed over me knowing we narrowly avoided catastrophe despite how close we'd come; this incident served as an eerie reminder because a few minutes later and we'd have been out that house with no=one home, yes it probably would have gone up in flames.
As I think back on this event now it's hard not to wonder if others on the forum have faced similar dangers involving these electric cigarette lighters.

Scary moments!
We cleaned carpets in a house recently that had had a fire in a bedroom.
The son's rechargeable vape had been switched off and stored in a draw under the bed. Family had been sat down stairs an heard a 'pop".
Lithium battery had exploded. Luckily fire brigade called and everyone one ok. Bedroom was trashed .
We also had to call the Fire brigade once , story for anther day lol.
