Bad Day Help

hi all, I had a really bad day yesterday. Cleaned an old style stoves double oven , first of all the light bulb cover broke whilst removing it, that’s ok as Iv ordered a new one, but then my torch battery ran out so I stupidly put the power on for the lights and accidentally touched the light bulb with metal scourer, there was a pop and it tripped the electric box in the garage, once put back on the opposite bulb to what I touched had blown in the main oven! Customer has since phoned to say the top oven isn’t working but the grill element is ! Iv got someone to go and have a look this week but any ideas what it could be, will it be fixable??

If the clock on the oven isnt programmed it could cause the oven to not work. Happened before, when the time was set the oven came to life. Try that and see may work hopefully.

Thank you for your reply but it’s the top oven only, grill element is fine and so is bottom oven, the clock also wasn’t digital,

I'm sorry I don't have any advice except agreeing always worth trying the timer at least to rule it out, if not its possibly the element that has blown too.

On the plus side you have found a like for like replacement oven if it comes to that but i doubt it will, hopefully the others may have some other options for you.

Good luck and don't worry we all always come across faults that we have to take on the chin, I've learnt from this forum it's the resolution and customer service afterwards that's the most important xx

My guess is the clock needs setting.

I had exactly the same oven when I started out and scratched my head for ages after cleaning. When I turned the power on the oven wouldn’t power up but the grill would.

Ended up googling the manual to find out the clock needed setting.

Was taught on my training of the need to set the clocks, however didn’t think that would apply to an old analog clock. It did!

Hi all thank you for all your support, Iv been to have a look and it’s not the clock ! The main fan oven is working fine and the grill just the top oven not working and that’s the one she uses most , also the 2 bulbs on top oven not working! (All bulbs were working before I left ) .

It could be wet got in , did you check the element first for damage ? If the grill works iwouI wtry running it for a while to sure it's all dry . And check there is no tiny bit of scourer stuck in the light . I have had lights stop working when put new bulbs in and it was slightly over tighten so backed it a slight bit and all fine .

Analogue can also have that hand looking symbol that needs to be in the correct place for it to work.
