I would make/get made a 16 amp cable with normal plug/sockets.
Which ever extension is used should be completely unwound and laid out without coils as leaving it on the drum can melt the whole lot into one lump.
Think of a power cord as being a tube. The wider the tube, the more fluid can run through it. The same thing with electricity. Also, the longer the cord, the more energy is lost along it's length, so the heavier duty the cord the better. All this is exactly the same as with our machines hoses.
A standard 13 amp extension tends to be 1.5mm wires inside the cord. The heaviest duty ones are 2.5mm. Less power loss to feed your machine so the more efficient it runs.
