Is flushing down a toilet the same as dropping down a sewer drain?

I see these sewer drains.

Is flushing carpet cleaning fluid down a toilet the same as pouring it down the toilet, for disposing of it?

Also do toilet waste and shower water waste and washing machine water waste all go to the same sewer?

Way I understand is waste water is waste water, period. They will/may exit down different pipes etc but this is due to different pipe sizes and pressure/drop needed on those pipes to effectively carry the waste away for that device but yes they all end up in same place down main sewer line.

sinks, basins, baths, toilets all go to the foul water system. Can never be sure of gulleys outside, if the house is older than 1970 it’s probably a combined system (everything goes to foul) but best to stick to toilets. If you’re lifting manholes foul is always deeper.

To correct you, they don't. Sorry. in large citys and towns yes they do

To answer you Sam

Some places have septic systems or even soakawY systems where the water dissipates through the ground itself.

Also the waste may be separated from the toilet and go elsewhere

If in doubt, toilet. If really in doubt, ask the customer. They should know.

I always just put in down the customers toilet.

I think the environment impact is low with most world of clean products but I think there is a fine related to putting commercial waste into the incorrect drain...that in itself is good reason to dispose of it correctly.

Chances of getting done are low tho I would say, better to be safe than sorry.

Jacob,

It’s illegal to discharge grey water into a soak away?

I have a septic tank.
Have to be careful what goes in the drain - never bleach or pipe cleaner from brewing systems. As little paper as possible, just organic.
Rain water goes straight to the field drain which the farmer put in, septic tank goes through a reed bed and comes out pretty well safe to drink!! Never tried it though ! That goes in field drain.
Anything nasty I take next door to their drain as they are on main sewer. I am below the sewer level so would have to be pumped.
I only pay for metered water supply, no drain water charge. Around £100 pa. I use quite a lot for brewing.

So people are finishing off a job, the hallway being the last carpet to be cleaned for example - Then you’re walking back into the property with a bucket of waste water to empty it down the customers toilet ? 🧐 Come on.

In general it's toilet or gulley outside where the kitchen sink drains in to. Or man hole cover.

Problem is there's too many snoops and Karen's about to risk dropping it down a road drain. Not that it would do anything apart from clean the usual blockages a bit.

There is a hefty fine up to 10K for dumping water that should be in the sewer (Main drainage) put into a storm drain.

I'm lucky enough to have a mains drain manhole on my driveway. and annoyingly in the middle of my front lawn/croquet course!!

Did a job for someone in the next street who turns out works for the Environmental Agency, and asked me where my waste water went.

Thank god I could say hand on heart "in the mains sewer

Must dash goals being scored on Fantasy Premier League!

True

But not everybody can store waste water on the job Adrian.

Usually its a problem when the recovery tank is full.

Ohhhh a croquet lawn... how posh 😆

The Wuhan Institute, sorry I mean the peoples republic of china have dipped their toes in the and bought around 10% of Thames Water. Probably more worrying is what's going to be in my fresh water than what waste water is going down what drains.

Not really Jacob, a bog standard 3 bedhouse, Just fortunate to have an end house with a generous front lawn that the developers did not want an extra bit, and sold it to us for tuppence.

Any guys on here local to me-Torbay, would like to try this great game let me know. I usually play with the neighbours in our cul de sac.
