Customer left a bottle of water on the table overnight. It must have fallen over and dripped onto a sea grass carpet. It has left a ring mark when dried. Is there a way to remove this?

Tom,

This is not a stain in the normal sense of the word but a migration and re-disposition of dye.

Not a cleaning issue and any attempt to resolve the issue by cleaning is likely to worsen matters.

To our shame, one of the bigger distributors is based in Kidderminster- The home of proper carpet ( well it was until it all moved to Portugal and spain:pop:

Hi Russ, hard to see what it is looks like sea grass , sisal
I would use Host sponges and traffic lane cleaner on it mate with my freestyle machine , if you have not got Nick has a low moisture powder / sponges, vac mist very lightly with M power apply sponges / powder work in with brush or crb machine give dwell of at least 30 mins you may have to repeat process or leave to dwell longer Russ

From the left pic where your thumb is it looks like a sisal/ sea grass on a cheap backing (unless the white stuff is something else?). It's usually stuck directly to the floor & there aren't many ranges with a form of backing unless it has been stuck to something prior to laying in a bid to help moisture control?

Can you see the direction of the weave mate? In the left pic it's running from 5-11 O'clock (clock face & 12 is straight up). This should be your direction of travel with your vacuum cleaner but you will need to slow down yet keep your brush setting on about 3 so it's not too low.
A light M Power mist should be fine & you can always add more later but keep the mist very fine (should never feel wet after spraying). Add some sponges, VLM powder or other dry compound & either brush in with a groom (lots of effort) a Duo, Host or if you have soft brushes a Envirodri/ TM3,4,5 crb. All this in the same direction with the weave.

Then some time later (usually 30-60 mins later) vacuum it all off (same direction again, never across the weave but through it or with it).

If it's general mud/ muck it should clean pretty well, however spills are a lot harder to remove, just qualify this to the client & you may mention that they have bought a higher maintnance floor covering so it will need you to pop round at shorter intervals to help maintain it.

Any help?
