Hi can anyone recommend a suitable product to clean this particular make of leather chair. It's a Vitra Eames soft pad leather chair They are very expensive £2300 a chair. It's for a client of mine she just wants it cleaned up . The chair is in very good condition , except some biro marks on the leather.
Ant advice would be welcome

LTT leather cleaning course unless you have the odd 2 1/2 grand spare to buy another if anything goes wrong.

The make does not matter, to clean any leather you first have to know what type it is, if it's pigmented then it will be straight forward but identification is always key, if you can't identify it then really you should leave it to someone who can, esp as it's so expensive.

If you do want to do it, take a really good close up pic and send it to Judy & she can advise you further.

Good luck :)

Personally, (& I'm not having a go at you here), if you have NO LEATHER REFINISHING SKILLS, don't touch it.

I find it hard to believe that anyone that paid twenty three hundred quid for a chair would say that they just want it cleaned up.

Attempts to remove biro from any leather after a period of time, is likely to damage the finish of the leather.

You will then need to repair that damage.

You have then inherited their problem.

You may then find that you own a 2nd hand, twenty three hundred quid chair.

Refer the friend on to Judy at LTT for professional help.

Hi David I just tried to google it but only came up with office chairs? Our Upside down friend (at least he isn't up until 2 am to see us get stuffed at cricket again) is spot on do the training leather can and is quite a large ticket job and if you know what you are looking at fairly easy to clean but very easy to stuff up if you don't know what you are doing!

Judy's course on id is great how to clean and restoration and I would really reconmend it, and Shorty I had a call the other week from a guy who said that his suite had cost £7000 could I quote to clean it!! When I said in the region of £300 he declined saying I only want it freshened up!!

I had NO intention of doing the job it was a proper suede suite, he wanted to pay £120.00 tops I told him to save his money toward a new one.

I'm not going to chuck any spinners here, but if it was a £7,000.00 suite, I would have charged £700.00

Being suede, I would of added extra.

Depending on type of leather, condition & what client requests or expects, prices do vary considerably.

Some I will quote extra high NOT to get the job.

There's an old saying, "You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear", and some people 's expectations go to that extent.

I guess I'm going to be a tad prejudiced here and say that for some nationalities, my price trebles immediately upon hearing that voice on the ode-cologne.

Sorry, phone.

That's it, we're off to Cazaly's for brekki.

Have a great day watching cricket before we win the tennis. :tounge:

they're all tight up here too Andy, extra work on suede, they refuse to pay the price up here, i've left them to the cheap boys......if i wanted to work for minimum wage I'd go back to working for someone else and get holidays and sick cover with it....... 700 shorty can i come work for you, with such great weather think I'd be happy with minimum wage.....

Shorty to be honest I was driving back from footy and the call came in I said £300 as an estimate, soon as I said it I thought sh*t that's too cheap which is funny 'cos he thought it was too expensive. I have never come accross a real suede suite ever but if I did my reaction would be :run::run:

I would leave them to a real leather pro my mate Al from the Lincs
