Hi Robert
Please could you let me know what kind of rug is this? 4.5m x 3.5m. It was bought long time ago in Hong Kong. Quite a few spots on it as well! Many Thanks!

Hi Greg

I think my work here is done.
Jarred and John are of course correct, it is a super wash Chinese, but there really is nothing 'super' about them.

Thank you guys! Do you know maybe r these were made traditionally from wool or cotton? Cannot decide which spotter to use, cheers

Thanks Steve!
Thanks John!

This is my first rug so please correct me if I am wrong on this steps:
- Vacuum both sides
- MPower spotter, spray directly, agitate by hand with soft brush and wipe, rinse with water.
If Mpower won't help on spots I will try Chemspecs "SPRAY'N GO"
- Spray MPower Cleaner and agitate with Flormac/black brush
- Rinse with water
- Acid rinse/Final Phase/on the fringes

Hi Greg
You "vacuum" the face & "back dust" the back
No point vacuuming the rear until the soil in the face is out
(back dusting is vibrating the soil that's imbedded, physics will lead the way)

M Power on the rug= fine
M Power spotter= depends on stain type
Spay & Go= as above & if you need a reducer & not an oxidiser (don't acid rinse this out for obvious reasons).

M Power spotter or Heavy Duty on fringes coupled with a cork works well btw

If this is your first rug I would advise you to avoid the reducing agent unless you have practiced on various fibres/dyes.

Great, really appreciate your advices! I'll use MPower spotter then.
There are:
small spots/coffee stains across the rug
1x urine stain
1x sick stain

One last question, am I safe to use black brush or should I buy 13" Microfibre Bonnet for agitation this rug?

Do not use a wand on rugs. Carpet (not upholstery) hand tool only.

After rinsing, dry with a hand towel first before grooming to set the pile.

Silk wash rugs can "bloom" very easily when treating stains, leaving a halo effect around the stain. If you must use a spotter, keep volumes VERY light.

Work on a waterproof drop sheet to avoid damaging the carpet or floor beneath.

Extra dry-only strokes on the fringe and comb them straight when completed.

Drying the rug flat will reduce the risk of the fringes browning out as they dry.

Don't dry on a floor or carpet that could bleed dye, pigment or polish.

During manufacture, a silk wash rug is treated with a bleaching agent that actually damages the wool but making it softer to the touch ("silk-like") and softens/fades the colour a little. The reverse side is therefore darker than the face. Inform your customer before hand as they may think that it is you who faded the colours.

Safe and happy cleaning:smile:

Thanks Ken, I will water rinse M Power Spotter quicker then usual then, just incase... and will see how it goes with a stains.
Would you use Final Phase on that rug to stabilises colours ( in very light solution), or should I keep it only for fringes?
