No Scratches

Hi every one.
I clean new houses for a builder all the time and am VERY VERY careful when using my scraper ,4in Unger .I sometimes see very small scratches and be quite annoyed with myself and to be honest have never been pulled about it, but I really look for them.
I also notice some marks can't be removed as they are double glazed and are in the inside.
Any suggestions please

Horrible work builders cleans on Windows - we tend not to do many these days but have done more than I care to remember ! This depends on the builder you work gor too as some are very quick to blame a window cleaner for damage . The blade marks ? Are they Defo from you ? It wouldn't be first time I've seen builders pile Windows up half covered only to be covered in gritt and crap before they have even been fitted ! The 4 inch scraper should be fine on bigger panes and a 1 inch for smaller glass - as long as the Windows wet before you start scraping I can't see how your going wrong . We've cleaned hundreds like that and had no issues .marks on the inside is nothing to do with you just poor units - I would point that out to cover yourself though .

Thanks Daniel,I really love this work although we only work for 1 builder this 3 years, two weeks after invoice, cheque on mat.
No matter how careful there is always an odd mark which infurates me.

I don't know your background ?are you a window cleaner as in traditional window cleaner ? As would be needed for a builders clean - I only ask as if your not it may be just basic technique - if you are I don't think you have any worries at all - nice contact that pays on time - can be rare these days !

No Daniel carpet & upholstery 28 years.
Builder only 3 years and I really love it about 3 houses per month.
Its just no matter how careful and I clean all glass myself there all ways seems to be the odd sracth and I wipe the blade clean after EACH stroke and change blade regularly.
I realise some mark's are inside and they dont worry me as there is nothing I can do abouy .

We used to clean frames and rid of plaster from corners , then give glass a good soaping up with an applicator then scrape then re soap then squeegee off check for residue and re clean if needed . If that's what your doing that is all you can do . Sticker residue can take a few goes but if you scrape them wet any scratching should be minimal .

We do hundreds of builders cleans every year,we use titan products on the glass,oil flo 141 is good for alot of marks,sticker residue etc,they also do a chemical called cement off and one called A1 hard water spot remover,I carry all 3 with me in the van and between them and a 4inch scraper we do not have any problems.
It makes a difference rubbing glass with chemical first before scraping as this helps to soften whatever is on glass,oil flo 141 is the one we use the most,the cement off is only used when glass is really bad with concrete and efflorescence.

Many thanks Robert,can you explain how you carry it out as I use vingear and fairy liquid with hot water and put on with my T bar.
I then scrape all the glass usually from bottom to top,I then use T bar again then squeezee and shrimps

I clean on a brand new estate. Every house has at least one or two pains of glass with scratches on them. Down to the builders.

Darren are you saying before you clean the harm can already be done.
I am very careful and scrape from bottom to top and in a straight line and notice that some scrapes or at a angle and not the line I use the scraper ?

Get a scratch waiver signed on any builders cleans.

I used to do these all the time, and one tried to take me for over 50k of damage, till I spoke to their solicitor and said I have a signed scratch waiver they backed away

Ian is your own waiver !
If I thought there was a problem with the glass I would not continue.
I clean for 1 builder only,and the first job with him the houses were up for at least 8 years/
I questioned him about the glass, as was far from happy with the glass.
He told me they tried to clean themselves with no joy and they replaced the glass in the houses that had been up for a number of years.
I was ready to walk but thankfully not as I clean all his new houses thus three years.
