Residue/water Marks On Glass Removal

I come across this quite a lot up here it is the same residue you get on shower screens and I suspect its some form of alkaline build up, white water/drip marks, disappears when wet but reappears when dry, you can feel it when running a cloth across it, does not necessarily appear on all the buildings windows is there anything that can remove it, tried all the usual descaling and residue alkaline removers , abrasives ect. I was thinking some sort of acidic wash might work, but the only stuff I have is lab grade hydrochloric acid for removing magnetite from boiler heat exchangers and it melts concrete, plastic , metals and people so no use.

Depends how bad it is we've seen some on our railway jobs where the windows were almost white with constant damp dripping down from the old brick work - there are various lime scale removers have a look on cleaning spot under window cleaning chemicals Titan clean I think it's called or call Nick from this forum solutions he knows plenty regarding chems - I've herd of people using bronze wool with success . Can't personally vouch for that though as if they don't scrape off ( window scraper ) on our jobs there left, I'm not sure about acid on glass either I'd be worried I'd make it worse so would steer clear to save owning the problem .

Magic sponge and cilit bang... Or under rub out.. Mor a lemon cut in half- tried those and the usual household stuff, will maybe try the unger or other stuff from window cleaners stores. It tends to be oxalic or phosphoric acid used on windows/shower screens and hydrochloric for tiles patios and grout.

after coming accross these marks for yrs and not being able to remove i read a post other day that ken put up about removing residue off taps anyway was doing some new windows yesterday and there it was the white marks on the bottom of the patio doors were gutter leaks above so back to the van open my carpet stain removal case got the Extreme out quick spray wipe re clean ....ALL GONE brilliant stuff
