Wet Floor signs

The real value of these signs was brought home to me yesterday. The lady of the house would insist on walking through the lounge/dining room where I was cleaning. I had clearly deployed warning signs inside and outside. On her last "walk-through" she went from the now damp carpet straight onto the laminate floor in the hall........in bare feet. Apex over base and not happy:shock:, don't think I'll be invited back next time but serve's her right. I did warn what may happen but she knew better.

Same here! And I use slip mats where a customer might step from a damp carpet onto a slippery hard surface (Especially glazed kitchen tiles).

I'm all for health & safety but putting up yellow signs in a customer's house?! :confused:

Warning signs are surely to inform people who otherwise wouldn't know, like in a public building/office etc! The customer knows you're working there, they hired you in! Each to his own I suppose!

I do always warn about walking off wet carpets on to hard floors. I used to put one of my cotton drop sheets down onto any such areas but stopped doing that because you're replacing one hazard with another. More customers used to trip on the sheet than slip on their damp feet.

I quite often re-locate the customer's door mat from the hall to the kitchen entrance, 2 birds with one stone!

Long story short. The guy who was my best man when I re-married was also my insurance broker. I was doing some work for a mutual friend when he happened to drop in and noticed I didn't have any warning sign's out. He suggested that if I didn't have the signage on display my insurance would not cover me in the event of someone having an accident. It's not just the damp carpet that creates a hazard but also the hoses, wires and other associated bits and pieces required to complete the task. I'd rather take 10 seconds to put the signs out than have some clumsy oaf take me to court for a broken arm etc.
