Wiring A 12v Remote Control

Hi I've bought a 12v remote control for one of my cleaning trolleys. For the life of me I can't work out where to wire it to. Here's a pic of the wiring diagram I used to build the trolley and that works fine but no idea where to wire the remote so it stops the pump and conserves battery power. @Trevor Ives @John Bolton . Dan,

You could replace the on/off switch with the remote control or retain the switch and insert it after the fuse.

Thanks John. I'd rather keep the switch. So wiring it after the fuse does that mean wiring it directly to the battery or onto the switch. Ie. Where do I wire the positive and negative.

Dan,

Connect to the wire between the fuse and the switch and joint in the positive wire of the remote switch. The negative wire of the remote should be joined to the negative side of the switch.

Since the two will be in parallel, with the original switch off the remote has control. But should the remote not fuction for any reason (eg. a flat battery in the handset) you can use the original switch in the normal manner.

PS.

If terminals are available rather than soldered connections use these to splice in the new wires.

Or you can wire the remote control relay in parallel with the on off switch, ensure the switch is in the off position if you want to use the remote.
