Hi Gareth,

It sounds like they are going to put work your way! Have you thought of any prices yet? I am stuck on prices too! Out of interest, how much did you pay for Public Liability Insurance? Just want to know roughly whilst working out my costs!!

Thanks

Michelle

yes we got some prices in mind It is hard to guess without going to low as it's a business at the end of the day ..
As for insurance we went with them advertised on here .. Gleaming . it will show you how much it is on their site when you put your details in .

How have you got on with setting up ?

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for the info. At the minute I've got some business cards and postcards done, going to hand them out to some letting agents next week and some local offices. Then I'll get some leaflets printed for the domestic customers and get them out! I know what you mean about the prices! I'm looking to do the cleaning and build up so I have a full week every week and then I want to add on carpet cleaning! I want to be doing that hopefully this year! Onwards and upwards!!!

Me and my partner took out quite a lot of leaflets, Dont expect your phone to ring right away . It takes some time i think to get it going . Just stick with it and keep flyers going out and if you got Facebook i think that would be a good advertisement as you have your friends there friends etc. Ive not got a personall facebook as i hate people knowing my personal stuff . Sorry fb fans .

I got some one i know to do me a website ,He's not pro but it looks ok.
Prices i will say is defo not easy , i said to my wife its a business and you got to make a profit or there's not much point in doing it . I look at all over heads a wage & what you want to cover everything and put some back in to the business. Think it will get easyier in time .

Just stick with it ,It will all come together dont give up .
enjoy the challenge of building it up

Tell me if this is too much .. full deep clean 3 bed house £120.00
I was told it was . I really dont think people know how hard a job it actually is .
I thought this was low myself

You are right - people dont think how hard a job it is.
Pricing - £120 is not unreasonable but it would depend on the state of the house and what was included in your service, Gareth.
You need to have a hourly rate in your head, and how many hours it would take.
Maybe you need to have a "from" price, then you have flexibility if you arrive at a job and you got a really grot job to do.

Well it was hard some one rang me they dont live in the area and cant let me view . They told me it would take around 6 hours + they want the oven doing also , So i thought with out seeing it and the oven that it was a good price . Could take more than 6hrs .

Service would be a full deep clean of the house, internal windows , oven cleaned .
And with out seeing the property which i dont like to be honest .

£15.00 hr x6 plus oven at £30.00
Total £120.00

I'd echo Joe
£120 maybe a guide price, however we all live differantly & what I call clean may be disgusting to you.

One cleaner round here gives guide prices of:
1 bed flat £85- £100
2 bed fat/ house £105- £125
3 bed house £135-£160
4 Bed house plus, Please call for a personal quote.

So is this a one-off or have they got more work lined up if you go ahead?

End of the day it's up to you what you feel happy charging, 120 quid in your pocket is better than being at home waiting for the phone to ring but, it also allows the agent to charge you that every time for your hard work.

Like Joe I'd tell tell them you're price is an estimate as you have not seen the property so if it is a real minger you can walk....or rearrange a higher price.

No this one was a one-off but posted here cos was talking prices before ,Sorry .

Well i thought it was a fair price but was told they usually pay by the hour and that it was expensive what i quoted over the phone. I was not prepared to go lower and cant view basis. Could take 6 hrs could take 10 hrs can't take some one elses word.

It can be prudent to get your foot in the door& have a look.
In some cases if clients see your guide price on your website & then call you they are already part conditioned. If you have loads of cleaners near you & many are charging much higher rates then this can work, however if you are a higher priced cleaner than it can have an adverse effect & you must sell yourself in other ways.
Research how other cleaners are selling themselves. What is it they all say & more importantly what 1 thing is it that none of them are saying? Bit of a Saturday night riddle for you, but if you find that one thing that no-one else is saying............THAT'S YOUR USP

Theres one near me that i know of that is quite pricey and i doubt they would do or go half what we would do for customers to be honest ,franchise company..
There may be the others around that just want to earn a few quid so they got no insurance ect.

I got a friend to do the website he put the stuff on there but it's not his full-time job so it's not great ..

Dont laugh..

I added some prices to it just now best i could

Gareth,

Watch our for also for when a property has more than the usual two levels, ground & 1st floor. An extra level makes a job so much harder.

My lowest pricing for a 3 bed full clean, excluding carpets is £150.00. This is my absolute lowest, but I've been doing this for years and know exactly what we can do, how long it takes etc.
And then, this pricing is only because of the amount of work we get from that source. It's a two-way thing.

You'll no doubt be a bit lower in the confidence stakes right now, but as you get more and get busier too, you're price will go up....and so it should. Cleaning is treated as if it's all so easy...it's not. Especially when you're doing throughout a property....

Hi Gareth,

I think that is a fair price, if anything a bit too low. I'm going to have a look at some cleaning companies local to me and make a note of some of the prices they clean for. I'll let you know what I find! It may give us a better idea!

Website looks good!!

Thanks michelle .
Its hard as there is not only big franchises but then you have got small companys or people that will do it per hr just to make ends meet .They will be the biggest problem so its going to be offering something better than they can provide i suppose .

I got the job in the end but had to throw in some other services, But it landed us the job plus its extra so not all bad .

Keep me posted on how your pricing goes

Thats brilliant!! It must be a good feeling to get a job!!

Once we get a few under our belt we'll be well away!! You can offer oven cleaning which is great as you will have customers who just want their ovens done, I may look into getting a course done for that too. It all helps!

I'll let you know how I get on regarding prices.

Michelle
