These are made mostly in Pakistan by Afghan refugees. They’ve been making them for the last 25 years or so. They are supposed to copy Persian Ziegler carpets from the 1890s.

Hi Patrick
All these are worth cleaning, but it is really hard to say what they are without seeing the weave.
the first one does look like Tabriz though.
many more photos?

Hiya Robert,

i have had a enquiry to clean a couple or rugs.

One runner is labeled as a Afghanistan rug with vegetable dyes.

The larger rug i suspect is also Afghanistan the customer just said its vintage, i was wondering if you could spread any light on it.

also if there are any problems cleaning vegetable dyes, colour stability etc.

Many thanks,
James.

2nd one is a Persian (probably)Hamadan, made within the last 20 years or so.
3rd one is a Persian Moud, also pretty new.
4th one is an old (60 years ish) Persian Belouch.
1st one is difficult from this picture, is it soumac weave? Maybe Persian Afshar.
Please try to give a close-up picture of the back corner, showing the fringe, edge and weave, it makes it easier to give an accurate appraisal.
