I went to see a customer who had spilled a curry down his sofa, he then seen online best thing to clean it up with is WD40.
Iv never cleaned leather but I will give it a go if I have to or is there a leather cleaner in the Ellesmere Port area.
Photos will follow

"On- Line", is full of misinformation by the bucket full.

Kevin... It's cream so the finish is almost certainly of one type only.

Could be a Semi Aniline seen in creme or white.Did not wanting him going in thinking Leather Is Leather. The Italian friends of mine when they finish work in the Restaurant they order in KFC or an Indian what was spilt on his Leather semi Aniline sofa you guessed it .

I'm sorry I'm not sure about any finish or why he WD40ed the sofa.
I hope these photos can help

He is a nice fella so I just wanted to help him out.
I plan to go on a few courses next year, I have had to pass up a few leather cleans.

Curry stains would be treated in the same way as dye transfer as the spices in the curry (usually turmeric) have caused the staining.

Type of leather is important as has been mentioned although the same processes can often be tried on Pigment Coated and Micropigment (Semi Aniline - hate that term!!) From the photos I would imagine it is a Pigment Coated leather but a simple absorption test would clarify this.

Dye transfer removal is a process - the first 2 steps are in our Jean & Dye Transfer Remover Kit which the customer can try for themselves if you don't want to have a go.
If you want to try use
1. Deep Clean
2. Ultra Deep Clean
3. Alcohol Cleaner

If these steps do not work then the dye has gone too far into the finish and will require a certain amount of restoration work to resolve.

Ultra Leather Protect would have prevented the problem from happening

Good old misinformation on the Internet,!!

Hope this helps

Agree with Judy, looks like standard pigment but could poss be semi aniline (sorry micro pigment:lol:). Again dead right on the course of action too (as you would expect). End of.
