denim transfer

Hi all
I have a friend who's asked if I can help him out.
He has a cream leather sofa with denim transfer on it.
The only leather iv cleaned is car seats with soap, a brush and a shamie.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Get some high end leather cleaner and clean it, if it doesn't move, advice them it's going to need more invasive treatment and then pass onto a specialist.

Some dye and stain removers can remove the top coat, opening a can of worms you don't want unless you know how to rectify it

This needs an experienced trained tech to rectify, look up one locally, there may be some on here. It is very easy to damage, and you could end up losing a lot of money instead of making a little.

You need to use the correct dye transfer removal process which may end up requiring colour restoration so best not tackled unless you can see the process through

You might not be fully upto speed as to what's available out there. I use a product which yes at worst needs colour restoration but typically needs a quick flash of clear top coat at best

There are ones out there, I went to one today that the customer had wiped with just a towel and water which removed a perished top coat.

Got to know what you're doing, same as sending someone off with some woolsafe product and saying they can clean a carpet.

Yes in this situation only a leather tech would take this on that's not what I'm getting at.

There are products out there which for leather techs, would be a simple fix. Products are constantly changing and some make dye transfer alot simpler with less remedial work required, unfortunately I'd mention more but as this is a sponsored leather forum I wont

Dye transfer done safely is always a process the same as ink removal.

You also need to take into account what the customer has been using and how this might have an impact.

Some dye transfer may be removed with straight forward cleaning products others may need full restoration and anything in between.

There is no product that is guaranteed to remove dye transfer as dyes and finishes vary.

I dont think theres any mention above of a guaranteed product which removes dye transfer merely theres a variety of products available as with all things in life
