Just a thing I have found out.
Probably many of you do the same, maybe not?
After a year and a half now of Leather colour matching, the Colour reader has been a massive help, but tweaks are sometimes needed. After several attempts of colour matching to an enth degree, and then needing more colour later, I started keeping a diary of colour.
Each customers job is diarised with the amount of mix required and added to their diary input.
So far I have had to use it once as a fall back mix, but I can see the future use as a benefit.
I also use that colour as a visual on a slide, again the reader is a good guide, but sometimes can be a shade either way.
How professional painters do their job baffles me!

Always a good idea to keep records of colour mixes - we supply the colour charts for you to fill in as part of your manual.
Any aids will really help you learn
The colour reader helps with teaching about proportions which is often what people struggle with

The thing that gets me with the colour reader it will often give a different priority list of codes on the same piece of leather in the same position on the furniture. So I often take several readings and then start with the most frequently occurring code. When that happens I always know I'm going to be in for a tough time matching manually. I find it good fun unless I have the customer hovering over me!,

Hi Martyn
Sometimes happens on two tone leathers but also can happen if the area you are reading is a bit 'squashy' and light gets in which will alter the reading.
Still gets you there much quicker!!
